Our Breeding Policy (Ethics):
At Valley Kennels, we hold ourselves to the highest standards when it comes to breeding Cane Corsos. Our breeding policy is rooted in a deep commitment to the well-being and quality of our dogs. Here are the key principles that guide our breeding practices:
Health and Structure: We prioritize the health and structural soundness of our dogs above all else. We will never knowingly breed any animal that does not meet our stringent criteria for good health and a solid structure. This commitment ensures that our puppies have the best foundation for a healthy life.
Temperament: Our dogs possess an even-balanced temperament, which is a hallmark of the Cane Corso breed. We are dedicated to preserving and enhancing these qualities in our breeding program to produce well-rounded, stable, and loving dogs.
Family Love: Our Cane Corsos are not just breeding subjects; they are beloved members of our family. Our passion for the breed is genuine and wholehearted, and our dogs receive the utmost care, attention, and love.
Responsible Breeding Age: We adhere to responsible breeding practices by waiting until our females are around 24 months old before they are bred. This ensures that they are physically and mentally mature, promoting the health and well-being of both mother and puppies.
Limited Breeding Frequency: We limit our breeding to once per year for our females. This approach prioritizes the health and recovery of our female dogs and allows us to focus on producing high-quality litters.
Male Maturity: Our male dogs are typically around 18 months old before they are considered for stud services. This ensures that they are in their prime and capable of producing healthy offspring.
Hands-On Whelping: We take a hands-on approach to whelping, personally overseeing the birthing process within our homes. This environment promotes early socialization and ensures that our puppies receive the best care from day one.
Selective Pairings: We carefully select breeding pairings, holding back puppies from each litter to ensure that we maintain the quality and excellence of our bloodlines.
Collaborative Breeding Team: Valley Kennels is comprised of a dedicated group of four breeders located in different cities, including
Cleveland Ohio, Memphis Tennessee, and Charlotte North Carolina. This collaborative effort allows us to pool our expertise and resources to produce the best Cane Corso puppies possible.
Our breeding policy reflects our unwavering commitment to the Cane Corso breed and to producing healthy, well-tempered, and structurally sound dogs that can become cherished family members for years to come.
